Culture

Our Bali Blue Moon Kintamani coffee is as mystical as the Island of Bali itself. Bali, known as the exotic jewel of Indonesia is located west of the Island of Java on the westernmost end of the Lesser Sunda Islands in the Coral Triangle. The Coral Triangle has the largest marine biodiversity in the world. Kintamani, located in Southern Bali is home to Mount Agung, the highest peak in Bali, Mount Batur Volcano and Lake Batur. Our coffee is grown on the slopes of Mount Agung.

Coffee has made a comeback in this region after the eruption of Mount Agung in 1963. In the 1970s and 1980s the government started to redevelop coffee in the region by granting coffee seedlings to the farmers. Today the volcanic soil is rich in minerals and the region has an abundance of rain to grow coffee and citrus. Citrus trees provide shade for the coffee and additional income for the farmers.

Coffee production is organized around Subak Abian, an organization of farmers developed more than 1,000 years ago by Hindu priests. Subak Abian refers to ecologically sustainable irrigation systems. The priests practice the Hindu philosophy of “Tri Hita Karana,” which translates to “the three sources of prosperity.” The philosophy is focused on the harmonization between man, God and the environment.

Origin

Flavor Profile:A complex coffee with an exotic syrupy body and hints of chocolate, vanilla and spice.
Origin:Kintamani, Bali, Indonesia
Plant Varietal:Bourbon, Typica, Catimor
Altitude:3,900 ft. to 5,250 ft.
Process:Wet-hulled and dried on African beds. In wet hulling, the skin and pulp are removed from the beans after harvesting. Once the skin is removed, the beans are partially dried on African beds. African beds are elevated screens that allow air to flow through and around the coffee. The partially dried beans have the mucilage and parchment removed before final drying. The final drying is completed when the beans reach 11% moisture content. The result is a fuller bodied coffee with less acidity.

Amazing!

I am a Texas girl, but I grew up in Brazil, so I KNOW good coffee! I have been searching and searching for good coffee and the local grocery stores just don't carry anything that I would call good. I tried Amrita coffee and it is AMAZING! Balie Blue Moon dark roast is my favorite but I have two other flavors to try! I bought the trio in the basket, (which is a great gift idea by the way) and I can't wait to try the other flavors.....mornings are so much happier now :)Thank you Amrita Coffee !! My husband also thanks you 🙂

Pure Yum!!!!!

This is a coffee to be savored to allow all the delicious notes come out as you enjoy sip after sip. This seems to stand up well to both light AND dark roast....I tend to use the dark roast as a stand alone treat while the light I like better as an accompaniment to meals.

Bali Blue Moon Kintamani

My light roast Bali Blue Moon is delicious with a syurpy body& chocolate spice undertones. Nothing is better than freshroasted coffee brewed in a pour over! Looking forward to ordering again.

An Afternoon Delight

Just opened a fresh bag of this Bali Blue Moon coffee from this boutique roaster after I arrived home this afternoon. Ground my beans up, got the french press out, brought my water to boil, added my fresh ground of dark roast, added the hot water, stirred it and waited patiently for it to steep for 5 minutes. I poured it into an oversized cup, from about 12 inches above so as it pours it aerates the hot coffee. I take in the aromas rising from the cup, blow on the surface to cool it a bit more and taste. The flavors just pop in an extremely subtle way, lingering in your mouth with smooth dark tone of chocolate and spice. I froth the milk and add it to my cup and taste again and my brain goes this is so delicious, the flavors are even more pronounced. I truly enjoy this coffee and have purchased it multiple times, I will now sit back and enjoy my oversized cups worth before going out this evening.
